Trump says ‘miscarriage of justice’ as President Biden pardons son Hunter in gun, tax case

In June, Hunter Biden was convicted by a federal jury after he lied in a gun purchase form in 2018, while he also pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges in September.

After US President Joe Biden made a sudden announcement on Sunday to pardon his son Hunter Biden for gun and tax evasion cases, President-elect Donald Trump called it an “abuse and miscarriage of justice”.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Republican Trump questioned “Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?” adding, “Such an abuse and miscarriage of justice.”

The Republican lawmakers started to post their fuming opinions on social media shortly after President Biden announced the pardon. Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung in a statement said “The failed witch hunts against President Trump have proven that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system.”

Cheung further added, “That system of justice must be fixed and due process must be restored for all Americans, which is exactly what President Trump will do as he returns to the White House with an overwhelming mandate from the American people,” as reported by NBC News.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, in a post on X referred to raids that took place at the house of Trump in Florida in a now dismissed case of hiding classified documents. “His FBI and DOJ raided Barron’s bedroom and Melania’s closet at Mar-a-Lago, she said.

Another Republican Representative Andy Biggs said, “Joe Biden will go down as one of the most corrupt presidents in American history.”

In June, Hunter Biden was convicted by a federal jury after he lied in a gun purchase form in 2018 when he declared that he wasn’t using illegal drugs and then illegally owned that weapon as a drug user for around 11 days, reported The Washington Post. Other than that, Hunter also pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges in September.

Biden is set to vacate the White House in January 2025 as President-elect Trump will succeed him after he won the US presidential election with a clear majority.
